To infuse younger persons in R&D and the paucity of skilled / trained manpower within the country, CSIR established the Academy of Scientific and Innovative research (AcSIR) in 2011. The PG research programmes under the aegis of AcSIR aims to provide in-depth exposure to the engineering concepts, scientific principles, research methodology and hands-on experience on advanced real life R&D projects. Presently, the programmes being offered at CSIR-IIP fall under the following two catagories:

PG Research Programme in Engineering (PGRPE)

CSIR-IIP being a constituent laboratory of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is involved, in Research & Technology development in the hydrocarbon sector for more than four decades. CSIR-IIP is the nodal centre for conducting PG Research Programme in Engineering (PGRPE) entitled Advanced Petroleum Science and Technology (APST). This is a 2 year Master’s Degree programme and offered in August / September month of the year. Advertisements are published in national dailies and institute’s website during the month of April / May each year. Detailed information will be provided in the PGRPE Brochure which is uploaded in the website each year in the month of April / May. The Programme has been launched since September, 2009.

PhD

The students enrolled for academic programs should have strong motivation and dedication to pursue research in chemical sciences leading to a Ph D degree. NET qualified students are selected after a technical interview at CSIR - IIP who is subsequently eligible to enroll under AcSIR for PhD in Chemical Sciences. Details of the PhD programme are available in the relevant subsections of the website. The advertisement of recruiting JRFs is published in leading newspapers in April / May and Oct / November each year. The Programme has been launched since January, 2011.
