National Academy of Sciences (NASI) Young Scientist Platinum Jubilee Award -2007
Dr. Suman Lata Jain, Research Associate received “NASI YOUNG SCIENTIST PLATINUM JUBILEE AWARD” for the year 2007 constituted by National Academy of Sciences, India. This award carries a Bronze Medal and Rs. 25,000 in cash. The award will be presented during the 77th Annual Session on 8th December, 2007 at Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI) Mysore.

August, 2007: Dr Suman Lata Jain SRF has been awarded Humboldt Research Fellowship. Dr. Suman Lata Jain has been awarded Humboldt Research Fellowship by Alexander von Humboldt Foundation to work in Germany for one year starting from August 1, 2007. She will be working with Prof Oliver Reiser at University of Regensburg. |
May, 2007: Dr Suman L Jain, RA has been selected for DST Award for participation in the meeting of Nobel Laureates and Students in Chemistry at Lindau, Germany during May 25-30, 2006. The meetings include lectures by Nobel laureates, round-table discussions and informal small –group meetings with Nobel prize winners. After the Lindau meeting Indian group will also visit premier German scientific institutions for one week. All the expenses for the visit will be borne by DST/ DFG |
April, 2007: Dr Suman Lata Jain received Best Oral Paper Award for the paper “Studies on vanadium catalyzed direct hydroxylation of benzene to phenol using hydrogen peroxide as oxidant” at 18th National Symposium & Indo-US Seminar on Catalysis held at IIP; April 18, 2007. |

January, 2007: Mr. A K Jain, Scientist ‘F’, bagged the award for ‘Best Indian Paper on Environmental Pollution’ for presenting the paper entitled ‘Effect of Gasoline Composition on Exhaust Mass Emissions from Two-Wheelers – An Experimental Study’ (co-authored by Sunil Pathak, Yograj Singh, Sarabjeet Singh & M Saxena from IIP and M Subramanian & P C Kanal from IOC) in the ‘Symposium on International Automotive Technology (SIAT 2007)’, organized by ARAI, Pune; SAE, India and NATRiP at Pune, January 17-20, 2007. |
January, 2007: The ‘Scientific Advisory Committee on Hydrocarbons’ of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has been reconstituted with effect from 1.1.2007. Dr M O Garg, Director, IIP has been nominated as Member (Ex-Officio). Under the Terms of Reference, the Committee is to advise on policies relating to Science and Technology and measures to implement them in order to ensure optimum processing of hydrocarbon raw material for use as fuels and chemicals. |

Dr G Murali Dhar, Head, CCPD, received the Technocrats Excellency Award 2006 from the Technocrats’ Welfare Society of India in recognition of his outstanding technocratic excellence and meritorious achievement in the field of ‘catalytic applications to refining’

December, 2006: The Institute received the recertification of ISO:9001:2000 QMS. The Institute was accredited for ISO Quality Management System in April 1998 initially for the standard ISO:9001-1994. In December 2003 it acquired certification for the revised standard ISO:9001-2000, which was valid for three years. Now, the Institute has been recertified for this standard for another three years, i.e., upto December 2009. |
November, 2006: Dr Neeraj Atrey, Scientist, received the Young Scientist Award for the Best Oral Presentation of his paper entitled ‘Prospects of biodiesel production from some non-edible oils/non-conventional low-cost sources using heterogeneous catalyst’ in the First Uttaranchal Science Congress organized by the Uttaranchal State Council for Science & Technology held at Dehradun during November 10-11, 2006. The award includes a cash prize of Rs. 5000/- and the sponsorship of a two-month visit in any Research Institute or University in India. |
November, 2006: Mr. S C Bhatt, Sr. Steno participated in Uttaranchal State Table Tennis Championship at Dehradun and distinguished as winner in the men’s final. |
October 2006: A Rare Honour to Dr Bir Sain
Dr. Bir Sain, Scientist CBD has been awarded Tetrahedron Letters Most Cited Paper 2003 – 2006 Award for his paper “Cobalt phthalocyanine catalysed aerobic oxidation of secondary alcohols : an efficient and simple synthesis of ketones” by Vishal B Sharma, Suman L Jain and Bir Sain, Tetrahedron Letters, Volume 44, Issue 2, 6 January 2003, pages 383-386. Tetrahedron Letters is a prestigious journal published by Elsevier Ltd., Oxford UK. Dr. Bir Sain, Scientist CBD has been invited to become a referee for the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) Journal. RSC has more than 35 prestigious journals in the field of chemistry.

Sh. Khurshaid Lal Science & Technology Award 2005 and “DOON RATNA” Award 2005
Dr. Arunabha Datta, Head ASD received Sh. Khurshaid Lal Science & Technology Award 2005 and ‘DOON RATNA’ Award for his outstanding contribution in Science and Technology Field. The Award was presented by Nagrik Parishad, a leading Social Organisation of Uttaranchal in the presence of Chief Guest Sh. Prakash Jha, International Film Maker, Director and Writer and Special Guests Justice S H A Raza, Hon’ble Lok Ayukta Uttaranchal; Sh. R S Sharma Chairman ONGC; Sh. S P Singh Raghav Chairman Uttaranchal Power Corporation and Sh. R V Gardner, MLA. Doon Ratna has earlier been awarded to Dr. B S Rawat (1992), Dr. T S R Prasada Rao (1995) and Dr. Dinesh Chamola (1997) of the Institute.
