Projects wholly funded by the client having specified R&D objectives and well defined expected project output, generally culminating in generation of intellectual property. These projects can be multi-client, with two or more sponsores sharing the project funding and research output.

The rights of licensing intellectual property rests with CSIR. The sponsor is given the first right for commercial exploitation of intellectual property.
