Research Interest
Physico-chemical characterization of Heterogeneous catalysts to determine various surface properties like surface area, pore volume, pore size distribution, metal dispersion, surface acidity and acid strength distribution using sophisticated instrumental methods.
Work Experience
Working since last 34 years in the area of Heterogeneous Catalysis, I am well versed with the techniques of textural characterization using nitrogen adsorption-desorption method for BET surface area and pore size distribution. Characterization by means of Chemisorption techniques is another area of my expertise. Hydrodesulphurization and hydrogenation is close to my heart. My research program was aimed to establish definite correlation between surface properties and catalytic activities to understand the role of active sites, promoters, metal-support and metal-metal interactions in various catalytic systems. I am also participating actively in the Institute’s ongoing research projects on the development of catalysts for refining processes like catalytic reforming, hydrodesulfurization, hydrocracking, FCC and exhaust emission involving alumina, silica-alumina and zeolite based noble metals (Pt, Pt-Re, Pt-Sn) and base metals (Co, Ni, Mo, W) catalysts. I have more than thirty research publications to my credit published mostly in journals of high repute.
