Our group is focused on the fundamental and applied research of nanostructured materials and designed chemistry for providing the technological solutions to lubricants, tribology, thin films, corrosion, and water remediation applications. The surface-driven approaches including self-assembly, designed chemistry, functionalization of nanomaterials, thin films and surface engineering are used for the industrial applications.
The SST undertakes research work primarily focused to:
- Graphene and ionic liquids-based thin-film lubrication
- 2D materials-based composite for lubrication enhancement and corrosion inhibition
- Surface-active additives: Friction and wear modifiers, corrosion-inhibitors, surfactants, etc.
- Biomass-derived activated carbon and 3D structural aerogels for water purification and oil separation
